Randall Klein mentioned the track in another thread and got me thinking about it. I was too young, born in 72, but my dad used to take my brother there before I came along and all I have is the mental pictures from their stories. Do any of you guys have some pics you could post? I drive past the spot where Cornhusker used to be all the time, and it just looks like a great spot for a track...except now the entire place is covered in stacks of rusty 24" steel pipe. And surrounded by subdivisions.

Assuming it was near Omaha, where was it?

In or around 1970, there was a new strip built in Omaha just West of town, so close to I-80 that you could almost watch the racing as you drove by on the freeway.
Whas that "Cornhusker"? Seems like it wasn't in operation for very long at all... maybe 4 or 5 years... ???? Thanks for any information! Bill

We made the very last run down Cornhusker Raceway Park in 1973, in our SS/E Chevelle. The property was sold and subdivided. Yes, it was just north of I-80 west of Omaha (around 132nd st, I think). I have a lot of pictures from there, but I'm currently in Joliet. A couple of the pictures are from the Old Flight Land dragstrip, that was north of Omaha, in Irvington.

Thanks so much for the pics, guys. Must be wishful thinking that's making me nostalgic about having a 1/4 mile closer than 3 hrs. away! Tom's got the location pegged - Hwy. 50 is aka 144th St. and the track was along Giles Rd. just east of hwy. 50 (which is the road in the background of the pics). It's too bad it only lasted a few years, but no surprise due to western sprawl. Here's what it looks like today:

Thanks, Paul and Gary.
My partner and I, (Harry Sparks) raced our sedan delivery stocker at a strip North of Omaha at "Blair" NB in about 1967 or '68. It was an NHRA Points Race. Was that different from the "Flight Land" strip?
