I would think with a 3300 lb car you would need 500 hp minimum, which should be fairly easy with that combo

Thanks guys! He's not worried about a lot of mph right now just wanting to get it to run like 10.70's so he can try this & see if he likes it.

Smile Re: how much Hp?

Well here' the math:
ET from HP (1/4 mile) = (WEIGHT / HP)^.333 * 5.825
(note the little ^ symbol indicate an exponet i.e you need to take the value to that power)
Keep in mind that this is rear wheel HP not flywheel HP as measured on a Dyno. if your running a torque converter you will lose ~ 8-10%
So if you calculate (3300# /563HP)^.333 X 5.825= 10.50ET but thats rear wheel HP
so you need another 8% to at the flywheel or 563(HP) x 1.08 =~608HP to run 10.50
10.90 calcs out to 544HP but that would leave you no room to account for bad air,bad tracks etc.

Try this web site for more racer math
www.freewebs.com/soslo/formulas.htm#hp_from_et
Hope this helps!

?????????

Baer,

When we dyno'd my motor at Troys it showed 496 on the dyno.

My car weighted 3020 with me and i went 10.25 @ 131.00 on good day
very bad day i would go 10.42 @129.00.

600 hp in my car and it would fly, even with my big *** in it.....

How about finding yourself one of the ford svo v-6 engines and run s/st at 2000 lbs. and 550 hp easy with a really conservative camshaft, should run deep in the nine's at over 135,thats how i an doing it.
