Also go to GMhightechperformance.com this site tells you about the 3 versions of the opti spark how they work what makes them malfunction, trouble shooting symptoms and how to correct any problems, caused by the LT-1 opti spark ignition system failures too. I am sure with both of these sites you will be able to see and figure out your problems and hopefully correct them too. Comp 387

Paul, most are caused by the rotor retaining screws coming loose, or the metal blades coming off the rotor. Red locktite is how I fix the screws on mine, and aliminium pop rivets to hold the blades on instead of the plastic pegs they are mounted on. Too much cam end play, or too long dowel pin in the end of the cam causes havock also. Had one (rotor) come apart Sat in mine, but hadn't riveted the rotor together. Had a riveted one in the tool box, but not the car. Don't claim to be bright. I just use an original GM unit in mine. Avoid an Opti from Autozone, etc. Be interesting to hear what (if anything) Woodro says about this.

Paul go to Dynatech engineering, they sell a billet opti-spark that is great a little pricey but install it and forget it.
