Default radials vs bias on super stocker

Just finishing up GT/CA car and need to buy tires. Have never used radials, were not out last time I raced. Do not want to add another variable while sorting out the car but feel like the radials are the way to go. Anyone care to share their experience with radials verses bias tires? What brand, size would you recommend? What air pressure? Or should I sort the car out on bias tires and then switch? Thanks!

in my experience, radials have been about a tenth faster. i see no differance in consistency. the only drawbacks in my opinion are tire life being shorter with radials and your engine will work harder by running at higher rpm due to the fact that radials dont grow and genarally are smaller in size. the best way to go is run bias ply but have radials for heads up runs, keeping in mind when you put the radials on , expect to pick up reaction time. imho

There have been a number of threads on this and generally what the guys report is that the radials are worth .05 to .15 depending on the combo. What most are doing is saving the radials for qualifying or heads up runs-some, but not all. Personally I have not seen anything but it may be the way I run my car. For you, I would start with the bias and then the radials on a 1" wider rim than the bias. Hope this helps and good luck!
