i ran the 315 combo year before last, and i think greg hill still does.

I think this would be a really good combo for you! Better than what you have.

ps nothing is going to run with the NEW CARS and their crate motors for quite some time!

Junior,

Thanks for your input. I agree that it would likely be a more competitive combination. I like the thought of more compression, solid lifters, and a nice tall intake. My biggest personal hold up is that I know I'd miss all those cubic inches and the wonderful torque that come along with them. It would be a completely different animal. I wouldn't expect to run with the new cars.

I do run that combination. It's one of the better old chevy small block deals in my opinion. It's taken me a long time to get it to run decent. Other combinations that are better in my opinion are the 340 dusters both low and high compression and the 67-69 400 Pontiacs plus all the new cars that fit E and F.
