Live from CecilCounty -NHRA Lucas Oil Series- Part Two

Here we are again - back at Cecil County for part two of the Lucas Oil race after last Sunday's rainout .After a short drive from Atlantic City(and with some passengers for a change as I picked up Dave and Gloria Ley at Atco ) this morning i'm ready for some racing action. Its now 9:15 and in a short time we'll have one time trial for everyone and head back into eliminations around eleven .Back soon ............

Wow - What a difference a few days make - even with the temp in the high seventies and the DA in the high two thousand range this place is fast ! ! After watching Stock , SS and Super Street along with SuperComp make time runs I can tell you for certain -- most racers are from .07 to as much as .13 faster than last Sunday .And to add on the track is terrific with no traction issues seen ............yippee and on with the show .

Tidbits -- Anthony Fetch ( #2 last year ) made his burnout and went to the line -- he leaked something out then backed up and drove to the pits ........no time trial and dial the car for his next round on a much faster track .

Here's a story for you that i've been dying to tell all week but promised i'd keep a lid on it till today-- last Saturday after winning in both Stock and Comp Steve Szupka went to bed feeling terrific about his chances in both catagories Sunday morning .That all changed around 4am when he woke up with off all things a kidney stone attack - he tried to tuff it out but after an hour he gave in and his wife came from Pennsylvania to retrieve him .Sometime Sunday the stone "passed" as they say but he sweat it out all day until the race was called ..........if he were to win either today what a Cinderella story this could turn out to be .He is pictured below with his mom, dad and team mate Frank Jr.

Missing so far today in Stock -- Merryfield .Keir , Roberts .............

I feel for that guy. I don't think there's ever a good time for one of those, especially at the races. Hopefully he does well, especially since he's had a week to get all the painkillers and happy horse stuff they fill you up with in the hospital out of his system.Happened to me at Speedworld when they had a National Open some years back in September.

Stock rd3 --Cokinos over a late Totaro -- Szupka over Fetch who was out by 5 - Silver over Quinn - Morris over Kopecky - Gray over Guilmino -Bubba over a red Tyman -Infantino over a redlighting Mike Farrell - Conte over Porpora ... byes - S.Ficcaci , Curcio , Fletcher , Giermanski . .. nice round of racing to watch --- S/S COMING UP SOON
