Wink Good Combos

I have a few combos I think can (for now) run (read Qualify with) the Cobra Jets/Drag Packs. ( I'm talking stock or SS) 1) how about an 80 Monza 151 with a 2bbl W/S? 2) how about a 97 "T" bird 4.6L SS/PA 3) 74 Nova SS/LA? 4) 78 Camaro U/SA? then my fav 5) 352 SS GT??????

1. Good car, cost a "fortune" to do right, find one. If I did find one it would have a 191 V6 in it for V/SA.
2. Another expensive car to do right (rear swing axle). I wouldn't want to tear it down.
3. Been done, good car not great.
4. Best one you've got listed here for Stock. SHHHHH!
5. I can't figure out why this one hasn't been done a hundred times for SS and GT.
Keep looking Greg!

I assume he means 352 FE Ford. It is a really attractive combo. I did one last year that turned out really good. It can be done for less money than a 350 Chevy and is just perfect for a Fox-body Mustang in the GT classes. If a guy wants to run Super Stock, a Fox-body with a 352 is the LEAST expensive way to go really fast, and it is a Ford, not a small block Chevy. I borrowed some technology from my Cobra Jet program, made some changes, and it came out really good. BTW, this is the OLD 352 from 1964, not the new one.

I was looking at an FE 352 for a potential stocker several years ago. I thought it looked pretty decent at the time and sure wouldn't hesitate to build one for SS as you suggested. The Mustang would be more modern & aesthetically pleasing but a Fairmont might be a good body also.
Does it get any of the after market heads?
So how far under did you get the Mustang?

Jeff, it gets the Edelbrock head with the OEM valve size. It is the same as a 390, but a bigger chamber volume. I had about 30 cc's to spare when I got done with the intake port, and about 20 left on the exhaust, LOL. It did not go in a Fox body. The guys who have it are going to put it in a '69 Mustang ex-Stocker. They have some work to do, but it went 124 mph in the heat at Bowling Green, and there is a ton of work to do to the car. I'd like to see one in a GT car at 26-2700 lbs. It would be a 9-second car. One the Stocker idea, that will work too. It only has .408 at the valve, but the iron head can get really good up to that point. I've been playing with that for about 10 years off and on. I bought Kip Martin's old Galaxie to do something like that a long time ago. I have done the R&D on the engine, but the car is still sitting.............too many irons in the fire............maybe someone who is interested will build one and buy an engine. I seem to run out of time to put the car together.

4) The idea of the Camaro body with a different, untried class combo is appealing to me, but the Firebird body is a better way to good. Many more possible engine combinations.

Mark, the reason he likes the Camaro is because he has one sitting in the garage and with a little work it will be on the track as a Stocker. Mike

ok so-forgive my ongoing ignorance as I have never taken the time to fully understand the entire GT-MX-SS-(B,C etc) S division of classes.
however-my 67 Fairlane could be set up with said 352, and would only have to make minimum weight of 2670 with this combo (doubt it could get that light, just sayin) to fit in GT/GA . CUrrently a 977 record set at Atco, in a cobalt/cavalier, I think. index of 10.90. said mustang in example would weigh the same (except I have a caged fairlane). Capt CJ, how much power does said 352 have to make to run 9.60s at 2670 lbs in a mustang or whatever?
