NHRA it depends on the division but $155 seems to be a good average, IHRA says $125 on their site

IHRA 2010's divisional event ads show $125 or $135, depending on division.

I believe the Nitro Jams are right at $200. They added an insurance surcharge a few years ago but haven't gone up since then.

Most IHRA Pro-Ams are $135, some Divisions are $125. I paid $170 at an NHRA Div. 1 race this fall. It was $110-$115 when I got started! NHRA Div. 2 is $160 according to their site.... for reference, 5th Rnd Loser at an NHRA Div. 2 race would still be -$10 in the hole, in IHRA 4th Rnd Loser would be at -$5 to -$15. Heck, at some races, 5th round is the Final round, and you're in the sticker money... even earlier in Super Stock sometimes.

National Events/Nitro Jams... NHRA now at $305, IHRA $200.

Which is why I hope IHRA will be successful in latching on to more tracks out here in the western half of our great country, so we westerners will have another option for our racing dollars. It's interesting that IHRA is so much smaller a sanctioning body nationally than the NHRA is, yet they have "9" divisions, while NHRA only has "7" (and they cover much more land)? NHRA claims to care about good competition...well let's get IHRA out here close to their turf (Glendora), and we'll see how they really take to some real competition???

Actually IHRA has 7. I believe they just formed a Div. 6, then it jumps to 9. There is no 7 or 8. Yea, it's kinda weird, but has a story behind it. Maybe Beard will explain, I gotta run.
IHRA wants to and is expanding. But it's up to the tracks also.

Div. 9 was formed in the Carolinas due to the high racer-population in that area. They wanted to keep as many of the Div. #'s the same as NHRA as possible in order to make crossing over easier Re: competition numbers, while leaving the possibility of expansion to Div 6 & 7 on down the road without having to re-number.

Ultimately, racers drive the change. You want it, band together, push for the tracks, and them the tracks can band together to form a Division.
