Was looking through the classification guide the other night and came upon the Ford Maverick 302 - 2V combo circa 1972. HP factor appears very soft @ 143 and fit in Q or R. I only know of 1 car running anything similar to this. Why ? Can this combo be competitive or are there problems with this set-up. Just curious. Seems like a low -buck way to class race.

1982 Mustang has the bigger carb and an aluminum intake. I may be selling a carb and intake for this combo.

Larry, I can't believe they lumped the 157hp 302 (1982) in with the others. Big cam, 1.23 Motorcraft 2 BBL, aluminum manifold, only drawback is the small port heads. NHRA doesn't have a SBF expert do they? Were I not on a fixed income, I'd try it in Q/Stock and push for an auto for Q/SA. Should run .600 under with an Pep Boy's short block!

Fred the heads should be ok for the carb. There is one of these in Division 3. Check autoimagery for Mike Keener (not the checkmate guy).

Yes Brian Seaburg and Jason Biscane run this combo. The carb is the hold back with this combo. Brian has been at the bottom of the sheets this year but goes rounds. Jason had trouble at Seattle.

Mark,
The rating was 165 and it being lowered to 162 on January 1st. I have been thinking about a 75 Comet 4 door which falls into T/SA now with the reduced rating. I believe that this rating needs to be about 150 hp. Roland |

Nothing wrong with this combo, it's just not a "killer".
Mark, you're just too picky. (save the lecture)

Nah, it's just a geographically challenged combination! Factored tracks, or those right on the edge, 2 bbls, ugghhh :-(
