Default 12.0 Unleashed Safety Equipment

Does anyone know what kind of safety equipment is required for 12.0 Unleashed? Specifically do I need a roll bar for a car I drive on the street? I think not but I'm not real sure so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance. Craig

Roll bars are required when quicker than 11.50 unless it is a convert. Then one is required at 13.50 or quicker. Of course seat belts (OEM is OK without a roll bar) and a helmet is required as usual.

Cool Re: 12.0 Unleashed Safety Equipment

I forgot.....If you run slicks or DOT type slicks the tech guys might look for a driveshaft loop if they are not to lazy to get down to look.

There is a list on NHRA's website, under Competition, which is a quick reference to safety equipment required for each et.

I guess it will depend on the track and how the tech crew checks the cars. When we ran our very first Pinks race at Z-Max we did not know what to expect; however, we built our car by the NHRA rule book so we felt good about going trough tech. At Z-Max they made us remove the hood, open the trunk, open the doors and looked under the car. Got down to the personal safety equipment and turned us down because the one thing we did not check was the date on the helmet. At Virginia they were not near as thorough as the crew was at Z-max.

Good luck, we are going to try to run some of the races also.

So, the party is not over? Just bring 5 cases of Miller Lite, some long pants, and you can borrow my helmet.

I kept saying I wish it was like the old days when you could just drive to the track and race. So I bought a new 2011 blown Cadillac yesterday, stick shift, sunroof delete and black. These things are monsters and if it breaks, the dealer can fix it under warranty.

Heh Heh Yeah.....Who would believe you were drag racing a new Caddy. Good luck and let us know how you did on the 5 tenths pro start tree. Now my new Vette could be a different story when it came to warranty work.....LOL. GM knows we will run the snot out of them.
