Default Now what's Rick Stewart up to?

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCPh...30951#indextop

OK, NHRA Chief Starter Rick Stewart has been accused of only paying attention to the Pro classes. Here's a shot where he seems to be in deep concentration regarding a Stocker.

Is Rick:

Enjoying watching the car jump up on the slicks?
Waiting for a puddle to form so he can do the "fluttering fingers" rain signal?
Checking each lug nut as it goes around?
Trying to remember if he checked that his motel door was shut tight.
Thinking "Stockers are Way Cool"

Other captions are welcome. And thanks to Auto Imagery for another great shot. By the way, Updike has a very cool race car.

Being lost in the 60's, He's looking for the Top Fuel Dragster that the wagon is going to push start down the track.

He's looking at the groceries in the back. Making sure Full Throttle is the only energy drink.

Must be a slow week. You guys are really reaching on this one.Maybe, just maybe,he saw something that wasn't right.Maybe too he was starting to turn around to see the next pair coming up.You realise it is his job as starter to make sure all cars are safe going down the track. It's not beneath me to beat up on stupid goings on,but this time it's UFO time.
BTW how many of you think you could do half as good a job as him, given the hours he spends out there on the starting line, brrathing in fumes all day,for 4 days at a time and dealing with some strange situations, having to make final decisions sometimes.I know I wouldn't want the job.
And you guys goofing on him for being an old goat, let's see what you're doing when and if you get to his age.

What is wrong with you people, first you want someone to make sure there is no buttons, etc. for a delay system, and you have a starter looking for it, and now you are complaining that he is doing other things.

Ed, I know you have compasion.

You're overreacting, Ed, because I in no way posted the message in order to make fun at Rick. I saw an interesting photo that lent itself to some funny comments. You never laughed at the last page of Super Stock?

And I'm within a couple of years of Rick's age.

Not every posting is an attack. I'm sorry you saw it that way. Yes, things ARE slow.

We do have smiley faces that can be added to posts.Maybe if you punched one in I might have gotten the gist of your post.

That's a good point but it's one of my weaknesses. Every time I see one of those smiley things it makes me think of an AOL chat room and the idiots that hung out in them. I got my start online before there was an internet so it's just another sign of my geezerdom.

It's pretty ironic because upon rereading the post I was afraid people would think I was making fun of the car (jumping on the tires, counting the lug nuts) and added a line at the end. Since I'd pointed out that Rick WAS checking out a stocker I never thought of the post being taken that way.

Peace.
