Tri-State Stock/Super Stock Association races #6 and 7
Saturday-Sunday November 5-6, 2011 Mason-Dixon Dragway, Hagerstown MD Track is on US 40, approx 1/2 mile east of state route 66 (big Sheetz on the corner) All NHRA and IHRA-legal S/SS cars welcome Final two 2011 Tri-State S/SS Association races Must dial your Class Index or quicker (IHRA Index—old NHRA Indexes) Weekend schedule: Saturday November 5th Gates open: 10 am Test and tune, 12pm to 5 pm. $30 (paid to track), as many runs as you want. Crew/spectators $10 S/SS race, round 1 approx 2:30 pm. $50 entry, 100% payback Racers who lose in the S/SS race may continue to make test runs Annual racers dinner: 7 pm, Crazy Horse Steakhouse, Hagerstown Off of I-81, one exit on 81 north of the I-81/I-70 interchange; will give better directions at the track if interested *Test and Tune Saturday, cars are not called up in sessions. You just go up when you want to make a run. There are six main staging lanes, on the right-side/west side of the track. Typically, S/SS are in 1-2, street-tire cars in 3-4, slick cars in 5-6. There will be no problem making plenty of passes. When first round is called, those wishing to run the S/SS race, come to the rear of the lanes, pay your $50. Bye run car will be chosen and sent to the 'hot pits' east-side/left side lanes (used for Bikes and Jr's) across the water box from the main lanes. Ladder will be set for round 2, using reaction times. If there is a tie, tie-breaker will be closest to the dial, on the + side first. If still a tie, the racer who ran first will get the spot (i.e., if two racers had .020 lights and both were +.019 over their dial, the racer doing it first gets the higher spot).* Sunday November 6th Lee Sherman Memorial S/SS race Gates open: 10 am $15 tech card fee (paid to track) Crew/spectators, $10 Time trials: 12 pm S/SS race: $100 entry, 100% payback. $2,000 to win, track will add money to our purse to make the $2K to win. 56 cars would pay $2,000 anyway, and if we get more than 56, it will pay MORE than $2K to win. (Also a Footbrake class, $50 entry, run by the track) Same deal as Saturday, bye run car will be chosen and sent across the track. Ladder set for round 2 by reaction time. I know some may not be crazy about random pairs, there's just no easy way to pair 50 cars up without upsetting the flow of the rest of the race. Payout info: Saturday, $50 race Round money starts 3rd round loser - $50; Round money doubles each round after 16 cars will pay $450 win, $200 runner-up, $50 semi 20 cars will pay $550 win, $250 r/u, $100 semi and $50 3rd round 25 cars will pay 600 win, 300 r/u, $100 semi and $50 3rd round 30 cars will pay 750 win, 350 r/u, 100 semi and 50 3rd round Sunday, $100 entry 2nd round loser - $50 3rd round loser - 100 4th round loset - 200 5th round loser - 400 40 cars pays $2,000 win, 700 r/u 45 cars pays $2000 win, 800 r/u 50 cars pays 2,000 win, 800 r/u 55 cars pays 2,000 win, 900 r/u 60 cars pays 2,150 win, 1,000 r/u -If the race goes seven rounds, round money will be: 2nd round loser - $50 3rd round loser - 100 4th round loser - 200 5th round loser - 400 6th round loser - 600 70 cars would pay 2,050 to win, 1,000 r/u For those worried about racing in November, yes, it can sometimes be a little chilly (mid 40's during the day and high 30's at night, so a bit of antifreeze might be needed), but other years it's been near 80 degrees, and we wore shorts. This will be my seventeenth year in a row going to this race, and it's alwasy a great way to end the year. It's the last Class Racing event in the NorthEast for 2011, and the last race until next April for Class cars in the region.
