Noticed on the Division 4 calander for IHRA there was no race scheduled there anybody heard anything why this happened. It's sad such a good track is not getting used.

well you know each track must pay a fee plus the purse for a NHRA & IHRA divisional, and that doesnt come cheap, and with the D4 car counts in IHRA last year its a wonder if it even paid the light bill at any of the IHRA D4 events, it was sad.
I would say they past on the invite. |

The low car counts amazed me. Can't blame the tracks for not wanting to loose money again.

You may be surprised how cheap it is to have a IHRA divisional race.

From what I've read, Dallas Raceway has had some financial problems.
It is a very nice facility, one that I really enjoy going to. It does have one oddity that does stand out in that you can't get there from the closest highway exit from the east. About 150 feet from two-way frontage road (after going over the bridge over the highway), there is a Do Not Enter section. You could throw a rock and hit the track entrance from there, but driving that 150 feet can get you a driving the wrong way ticket. You have to get back on the highway and drive a couple miles to the Crandall exit, do a turnaround under the highway and head back toward the track. The Pro-Am in 2010 was the first (and only) time I've seen a points race under either sanctioning body where the Super Stock field consisted of two cars. Round one was the final round both days. Knowing there are enough competitive SS cars in Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma to at least generate a 16 car ladder for a two-races in two-days event, the two car entry list didn't make any sense to me at all. The other classes were more populated for that event - the total car count was 175 (205 including Juniors), but that still isn't enough entries to make it worthwhile for a track to host such an event when you figure in guaranteed payouts and sanction fees. Both HRA's need the support of racers in all classes. Without that support, the list of tracks that are unwilling or unable to host divisional events will only grow. |

Bob,
I remember that week end. From what I remember It was a track owners worst dream...It was raining all over the place and not at the track. I think the time the race was run was also a factor in the # of participants. Seems like it was at the end of a string of Div and National races. I would have loved to have been there, but was still in the hospital. I still haven't been to the track, but everyone that I have spokne to about it say it is nice.
