There is a magazine name Grassroots Motorsports (it's for the road racers out there) but they have a special challenge every year for a competition to build a race car for the amount not to exceed the year of the challenge, this year the total invested in your race car could not be more than $2.011.00. Now I'm sure that we could do the same in stock eliminator. Would love to see if Billy Nees, Mark Yaccavone or maybe even Jeff Teuton could come out victorious at this race. Your allowed to use old race parts, donated parts and cars. Now that would be a great challenge for 2012. Now thats a challenge. Claude Ruel

The problem is the "donated" parts. Some may have Shelby 5.4L with SC donated, others may have V-10 Viper engines laying around.
I've seen the road race. It's a great idea and looks like a lot of fun.But I almost always question the true cost on the winner.

I agree with Jeff, too many stories of build ups have a lot of freebie or borrowed parts. I would guess the way to get around that would be, after the race if someone offers you $2011, you'd have to sell it for that!

rule # 1 no free parts, must be all stock and car can be bought for $ 4.000.oo max(accounting for labour). I'm sure that we could come up with a great set of rules. CR

Way back in the day a bunch of us got together and formed a rather loose club we called the Buzzard Bros. We would constantly try to outdo each other by seeing who could go the fastest the cheapest. Learned a lot and had a bunch of fun. We did learn very early in our games that we had to deal with the free, used, borrowed and donated stuff. What we wound up doing was, at our meetings, we would argue out a "value" for everything. It sounds difficult but we made it work. I miss those days.
