635 total this morning. Should get a good many S/C & S/G guys yet, and some Comp, but I'm not sure if it will get to 700. Looks like Stock & SS are petering out. Used to be at least 900. Course the price of fuel, entry, and other items will stop quite a few people.
Did S/C, S/G, & Comp get close last year?

Jeff, I've noticed the same thing; way things are going Stock may be all run, hard to believe after 2 years ago when lots of good racers with fast cars were left out in the cold (Paula Cotten comes to mind but there were many others). Last year there were only 61 comp cars, ~110 S/C and 124 S/G. The Comp deal is tough, what a great class but only 110 S/C is amazing considering some D7 and D1 Divisionals almost pull that many.

I'm surprised there are fewer Stock than SS. Not normal, is it?

Have to remember age of the racers. Many have totally retired from racing or passed away. The lack of younger Class racers due to lower income of their generation or lack of a family habit of racing could be a major part too.
The level of cost and sophistication of Stock and SS is WAY above entry level for todays younger people. Time for a Spec class with any body legal based on wt and cubic inchs like old MOD. That would simplify entry and lower cost at least at first. Like it or not these are the facts. |

Dick, I'm sorry to have to tell you this but you're dreaming again. Believe me, I'd LOVE to see something like the original Super Mod classes again but the kids won't go for it and inexpensive? Please.

I'd love to be going again this year, but it's hard to justify spending a third of my vacation time and a couple grand to do it...

Billy, Without dreams (thoughts) no changes, no advances are made. Want more people, make it cheap. Guys could learn automotive again if they had a BASIC motor. 350, pg. 3000 lb or more. Only ONE carb choice, one head number,

I have to agree with Billy...even with a Chevy engine and Powerglide, it would not be cheap. |

Dick, could I suggest starting a new thread about this? No sense in hijacking Jeffs thread.
