Default Two S/SS races Nov 3-4 Hagerstown MD $2,000 or more to win

Tri-State Stock/Super Stock Association Races #6 and 7
Mason-Dixon Drag way, Hagerstown MD 1/4 mile
Final two races for our 2012 season
Track is on US 40, ½ mile east of the big Sheetz at Rt 66
Approximately 3 miles from I-70 exit 32
Track is roughly an hour from Breezewood PA

-all NHRA and IHRA-legal S/SS cars welcome
-must dial your Class Index or quicker (old NHRA/current IHRA Index)
-Random pair first round; cars laddered for second round both days by winning reaction time

Weekend Schedule:

Friday November 2nd:
Parking for early arrivals (all day/night)

Saturday November 3rd
Gates open: 11 am
Test and Tune: 1pm-6pm ($30, paid to track) and Gamblers races for Electronics and Footbrake
S/SS 1st round: Approx 3:30 pm or so
S/SS Race: $50 entry; crew/spectators $10
Round money starts $50 third round loser and doubles each round after (100 4th round, 200 5th)
Last year paid $900 win and $400 runner-up, 200 semi, 100 1/4, 50 3rd round with 41 cars
Racers who lose early may continue to make test runs til close
Annual Racers Dinner: Crazy Horse Steakhouse, 7:30 pm

*Test and Tune Saturday, cars are not called up in sessions. You just go up when you want to make a run. There are six main staging lanes, on the right-side/west side of the track. Typically, S/SS are in 1-2, street-tire cars in 3-4, slick cars in 5-6. There will be no problem (normally) making plenty of passes. Last year, with 58 S/SS cars plus a lot of bracket and street cars, I think most got 3-4 runs, some maybe got 5 passes. When first round is called, those wishing to run the S/SS race, come to the rear of the lanes, pay your $50. Bye run car will be chosen and sent to the 'hot pits' east-side/left side lanes (used for Bikes and Jr's) across the water box from the main lanes. Ladder will be set for round 2, using reaction times. If there is a tie, tie-breaker will be closest to the dial, on the + side first. If still a tie, the racer who ran first will get the spot (i.e., if two racers had .020 lights and both were +.019 over their dial, the racer doing it first gets the higher spot).*

Sunday November 4th
Gates open: 9 am
Time trials: 12 pm (S/SS, Electronics and Footbrake, plus test and tune)
Eliminations: After second time trial
S/SS Race: $100 entry, plus $10 techcard fee (crew/specators $10)
S/SS Race will pay $2,000 (or more) to win guaranteed (last year it was $2,100 to win and $1,000 runner-up, 400 semi, 200 1/4's, 100 3rd round, 50 2nd round with 63 cars

Round money starts $50 second round loser and doubles each round after (100 3rd, 200 4th, 400 5th)

Racers who lose may continue to make test runs, if they are still doing them.

Same deal as Saturday, bye run car will be chosen and sent across the track. Ladder set for round 2 by reaction time. I know some may not be crazy about random pairs, there's just no easy way to pair 50 cars up without upsetting the flow of the rest of the race.

Payouts will be at the timeslip booth each day, back near the starting line on the return road. I would like the majority of cars to park on the west side/right hand side of the track.

Any other information, contact me.

Last year we had seventy-two cars, from eight different states over the weekend. For those worried about racing in Maryland in November, yes, it can be chilly at times, sometimes some overnight frost. Other times, it has been 80 degrees, so be sure to plan accordingly (some mix a pint or quart of antifreeze overnight, or drain the water completely. I have been going to this race every year since 1995, always a lot of fun, and a great way to end the season in the Northeast for Class Racing, and typically the last Class racing event in the northeast until next April.

You can park anytime on Friday. I got there last year at 6:30 pm or so Friday, and there were already five S/SS racers there. Gates are open all through the night also. Overnight parking/camping is allowed both days. Those racers choosing to be there Saturday without racing or running test and tune it will be $10 per person.

Motels, restaurants and other info: Going west on US 40 (aka Dual Highway) back towards I-70, there are several hotels. A Super 8, Hampton Inn, a Comfort Inn and others. There are 1-2 smaller gas stations near there, also the big Sheetz at US 40/state route 66, about a half mile from the track. As for food on 40 by those hotels, there is a steakhouse (Longhorn?), a Denny's, Bob Evans, Dairy Queen, I think some ethnic food places (Chinese and Mexican). Though I highly recomend you join us all at the Crazy Horse Steakhouse, where we annually go every year on Saturday night. Larry Mohar told me Sunday he'll make the reservations this week...probably for 7:00 or 7:30 pm, as usual. From the track, and track-area motels, take I-70 west to I-81. I-81 North to the first exit. Exit right, go to the second light (big intersection at Massey Blvd). Turn left, then turn left into the plaza, just before Hagerstown Ford (Sherman Williams sign out front). Or, if you happen to be at our hotel, you can just follow us up.

Anything else you need to know, let me know. Hope to see you there, for annually one of the best ways to end the racing season!

I was just thinking about the Hagerstown Race when I felt this mornings chill in the air. All racers that pack it in after the Dutch should reconsider, Mike Carr and his mom run an excellent race ,the money is good and gets better the more entries there are .Last year, the weather was spectacular ,air was good. track was well prepared for the sunday race. The dinner at the Crazy Horse is worth the price of admission alone ably emceed by Mr.Worner.and Mr.Sheehan ,a guaranteed sidesplitting event. All in all its just a great way to put the drag racing season to rest, most of all because you'll be doing it with a smile on your face!!

Jeff Boyd (Division 1 Comp racer from Maryland) is posting $100 into the Saturday race purse. With 40 cars, with $50 entry fee, we will pay $1,000 to win, $450 runner-up, 200 semis, 100 1/4's and 50 third round loser.

Thanks Jeff for your support!

Here is Mr Matyas' Live From from last year. http://classracer.com/classforum/showthread.php?t=37030

Also, dinner is still planned for the Crazy Horse. I talked to Larry Mohar on Tuesday. We may or not get the back room like we usually do. They want a $300 desposit on it, since many times groups (not us) will book that room for fifty people, and only get twenty or so. The restaurant staffs extra people for the planned fifty, and sometimes don't get that many. If we can;t get the room, we will be out in the main room, at the long table that seats 30-40 people. If we know we can get a large group (we had sixty or so last year), Mo will call the Crazy Horse Saturday at noon and get the room, if it's still available; if not, we will be out in the main room. So a head count for Saturday dinner will be helpful, so hopefully we can get the back room all to ourselves (caution: flying peanuts--eat at your own risk...LOL).

Hope to see many of you there...always a fun way to wrap up the season, and make some good money.
