Default SW Anti Roll bar for camaros and firebirds

A while back there was a article in a magizine about the SW anti roll bar for the back of 3rd and 4th gen camaros and firebirds. It was being installed on a stock eliminator car. That started a discussion here about was it legal or not when installed as S&W intended it to be installed. My question is this. Is it still Illegal to weld it in or is NHRA now allowing it? I cant find the thread for some reason to see what happend as the conversation went on.

Can Heim joints be used in swaybar/anti roll bar end links instead of the tradional bolt and bushing setup if I decide to go that way instead of with the S&W setup?

Thanks
Rob

I've always been under the impression that if it can't be bolted in then it isn't legal.

No welding is my understanding as well.

Spohn Performance has a BOLT-in that works very well.

That's what I am going with as I have one here that was on my bracket car before I switched it to the S&W one. Just like the SW one cause its all tucked up out of the way but if its not legal its not for me.

Thanks guys
Rob

As I recall in that original thread, a number of NHRA's divisional tech directors expressed that they would not pass that set up. Now that said, the o.e. bar can be used effectively.

Are the HRpartsNstuff rear bolt on sway bars legal in Stock E? Also, is it correct that GM A-Body aftermarket rear control arms are legal if the bottom bar is NON-Adjustable where the top control arm can be adjustable? Paul from HRparts has mentioned that they were NHRA Stock E legal as long as they bolt in only. No welding. Anyone using one?

See link below for an example

There were some questions about the S&W roll bar a while back. Should contact them directly on how it was handled

All the bolt on sway bars are great but you really don't need it on a 3rd Gen. Camaro unless you wish to use it as a tuning aid. Which really is a band-aid approach, use air bags and weight.

Depending on which way you want to go there are several bolt on systems, they all work and you can do it yourself with some investigation and labor. If you want to run a sway bar the thinnest stock bar will work.

As Alf Wiebe said to me when doing my research: "The stock stuff isn't that bad."
