Default 409 And A Ford On DRC

A very good article on Denny Ford's great looking '62 Chevy on Drag Race Central.

Cool Re: 409 And A Ford On DRC

That's pretty cool. Brings back a memory or two. Can you imagine the chassis work to get that car to work like it does in the photo? Also, could you imagine the camshaft? Looks like a lot of fun.

Wow! I never thought I'd see 409 Chevs. in stock after this many years. I had a brand new Bel Air back in the day. Won a bunch of trophys with it. Wish I still had it!

Wink Re: 409 And A Ford On DRC

That photo was taken at a 409 nostalgia event. Both cars were running VERY non stock stroker engines. Denny's car could run 10.30's then.
In Qualified NHRA D Stock, I believe he was at 11.30';s, at just under 120 MPH. No, in Stocker trim, it wouldn't launch like that !

BTW, Bob, there's been a C Stock 409 62 Chevy, running occasionaly out west, very low 11's at 123 MPH, since 2009.

Denny has a finely engineered car, and knows what he's doing. I know it would be an experience, to line up side by side with him, and run off our respective Indexes !

As a matter of fact, yes, Danny... I THINK that's it ?
I believe it's been to Medicine Hat a few times as well, since qualified under the Index, first time out ( for car and driver in NHRA ), in Stock Eliminator in September, 2005.
