"New 426 Hemi for the Factory Outlaw Showdown will be rated at 500 HP and can only run in Stock AA/SA or AAA/SA or in SuperStock SS/BA, SSA/A, SS/AAA. This special rule was adopted by the promoter and the sponsor of the race."
I guess Barton won't be there. I thought the index and factoring was the same as the NHRA supercar showdown stuff. Mike

Mike , The Factory Outlaw Showdown rules are posted on the site . While they are similar to NHRA rules they have never been the same.

Example, any fuel allowed this is different from NHRA which restricts what type of fuel you can run, another example is we use a 5 tenths pro tree where NHRA use is a regular 5 tenths tree .

With that being said our rules have always stated "NHRA classes / rules in effect unless otherwise stated" from day one .

I would like to state that when these rules were made the new 426 Hemi did not exist and had never run . It first ran at the end of August 2013 just 3 weeks ago . Since it has been introduced it has performed at a very high level ( Congrats To David Barton )

The concern of those involved with the Factory Outlaw Race was that this combo was not properly factored and therefor would have an unfair advantage over the other combo's . This opinion is shared by most including a few Mopar guys that I have talked to but not by David .

After speaking with several concerned teams , Mopar , GM and Ford the decision was made to factor the combo for this race . I personally called David and informed him and talked with him about what we were doing and asked for his input and opinion .

I consider David a friend and he is a very talented engine builder and great racer. He informed me that he was not even coming to the race as he was going to the Dutch Classic to support Mopar in the 10k Hemi Shootout .

I told David if he changed his mind and wanted me to consider anything provide me with the numbers and I would . I personally regret that he won't be there racing with us in October.

At the 500hp rating in AA/SA the car would still run 1.40 under at MIR in my opinion. 500hp x 6.5 (AA/SA) =3300 +170= 3470 lbs . At Charlotte in bad air the cars weight was 3400 lbs and he still went 8.90 shutting off early . Thats 1.10 under the index in bad air , and shutting off , Give David credit that is a extremly fast race car

The new rule / HP adjustment was posted to the public . The promoter had the right to modify or adjust rules / Hp prior to the event, just like NHRA or any other sanctioning body . I hope this explains it, but if you or anyone else has any further questions please give me a call or email me .
