A friend has a original max wedge 426 1963 dodge and we need to know was the Ramcharger fresh air hood available on all max wedge combos, steel front end, aluminum front end, etc . He is thinking about running the car in Super Stock but only if the hood is legal with a steel front. Does NHRA allow the fresh air hood with a steel hood he has what he was told to be the original ramcharger hood and its steel ,so is it legal ?

According to the class guide in order to claim an aluminum car you need the aluminum hood with scoop and fenders. As far as I understand the only cars that came from the factory were light weight cars. I am sure lots had the scoop added to steel nose cars. I would think he would not be able to use the scoop.

scoop only on alum, scoop was alum also. Big bucks for alum fenders and hood and dodge is harder to find than ply.
