Cool Stahl Headers

I was just on the Stahl Header website, I may be reading it all wrong, but, it appears that they may no longer be selling headers.Anybody else notice this?

I called them yesterday. regarding fenderwell header collectors and it was pretty clear that they're discontinuing header manufacture and just selling components and kits. Even their jigs and fixtures are for sale. I didn't ask outright, but I'm sure Jere is getting kinda worn-out and wants to retire. They've been making headers since 1963.

I talked to a local engine builder last week and he said Stahl is done making headers. When I bought my headers from Stahl a few years back Jere and his wife were still rumming the show. Jere has got to be getting up there in years and probably decided to retire.

Lucky me! Got mine before Jere quit! Love them. Have had his headers on every race car I have had now. Five hundredths quicker than two other sets I've had on this one. Had two long phone conversations with Jere when ordering these. He is still very sharp. Extremely bright man.

Met Jere back when the NHRA World Finals were here in Tulsa. He and Bill Stiles used a friend's shop while here. Took them a couple of hours to make his Street Hemi sedan pass tech. LOL They said "You should see what they missed!" LOL
That car had streamlining on the BOTTOM. LOL

Hate it that they are quiting.

Thumbs up Re: Stahl Headers

Still have a set Jere made for my SS small block Demon back in 1977. The first real custom header maker. Jim

Jere and Judy both told me personally that the last orders would be accepted on 12/31/13, by the close of business. No orders will be taken after that, and they expect to have those orders filled by March 2014.

I ordered a set at around 3:00 PM 12/31/13, and sent my payment and flange patterns.

There is no better set of 4 into 1 big block Chevy headers for a Camaro or Chevelle built anywhere, right now. The fit, function, and performance are second to none.

The business will go up for sale after all orders are filled. Jere has been building and selling finest quality headers for over 50 years. I think it has become cost prohibitive and problematic to do business now, especially where he is, and there is no one with any desire to take it over for him. I wish I was in a position to buy that business, as I want to see Jere's legacy continue at the standard he has set.
