Default The passing of Larry Pauley

Larry passed away this past Monday. Larry was a long time Ihra tech official and drag racer. I was blessed to have had lunch with him just last week. Below are his funeral arrangements. Rest in peace my friend.

SHELBY - Larry Joe Pauley, 71, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2014. Born on Feb. 16, 1942, in Pike County, Ky., he was the son of the late Joseph Edward and Reba Sammons Pauley.
Larry was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and served in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member in the Cleveland Masonic Lodge #202 AF&AM, Scottish Rites Masonic Bodies of Charlotte, and Oasis Shriner. Larry loved drag racing and was a Tech Director for 22 years for the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA). He was the owner of P&H Transmissions, Inc. in Shelby and was an avid supporter of Crossroads Rescue Mission and The Master's House.
In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by a sister, Janice Scott; and father and mother in-law, Sam and Vernie Hamrick.
Larry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Freida Hamrick Pauley; a son, Eddie Pauley and wife Deanna of Shelby; cousin, Mark Aaron of Gastonia, who Larry loved like a son; sister, Margaret Runyon and husband Harry of Dallas; two grandchildren, Madeline Pauley and Dawson Pauley; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the sanctuary of Bethel Baptist Church. At other times the family will be at the home.
Celebration of life service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church
Officiated by: Dr. Timothy Sims and the Rev. Jerry Allen
Burial: Will follow with Masonic Rites by Cleveland Masonic Lodge #202 AF&AM and Military Honors at Cleveland Memorial Park.
Funeral home: Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, may be made to Crossroads Rescue Mission, 206 Mt. Sinai Church Road, Shelby NC 28152, The Master's House, 727 Polkville Road, Shelby NC 28150 or Bethel Baptist Church Youth Missions, 606 S. DeKalb St., Shelby 28150.
