Hi I'm new here. Hope this is in the right spot. I'm looking for any picture of my cousins old race cars. But the main ones I'm looking for are of Dwight Cox's win and record setter at the 1974 US. Nationals 66 chevy SS/R.
Thanks folks. |

It's on a YOUTUBE video of the 74 U.S. Nationals.
Brief and fuzzy but towards the end of the video it's there. |

The best one,if you can find it,would be the shot with the left rear wheel lugs in the air.It was taken just before the rain delay. That allowed him time to repair the car and continue in the event.

I remember that picture. It was one of a couple that ran in National Dragster report on Indy.

At the 12:44 time mark you will see Dwight Cox SS/R win Super Stock at the '74 Indy race. If I remember correctly there was some sort of screw up and he had to run somebody twice (I think Butch Leal). Watch the nose dive before the stripe. Protecting the record then just like the index now:

That sounds like the luck uncle Jake Red always had. Lol He tuned the engines for Dwight at that time.

Labor Day 1974 was september 2nd.
Publication would obviously be in the next weeks after that. If you find pics post them here or over in the nostalgia forum. Gail drove a 56 4door called "MissFit". She could row a 4 speed with the best of 'em. Jake also built a 6 cylinder Nova that i think ran H/MP or maybe as a gasser. Long time ago. Last edited by Charlie A; 10-18-2014 at 10:32 AM. |
