Question I.H.R.A. Pure Stock rear seat delete question.

Can anyone answer: Are we allowed to have a rear seat delete kit in place to reduce weight for class?Even when NO rollbar is to be added.2008 mustang d/pure stock. These newer cars are tanks. Thanks for your input.Matt

The way I read the rules are that a rear seat is required, even with a roll bar in Pure Stock. It states rear seat may be modified, not removed, if roll bar is installed. If that's the case, then the only Mustangs that would be legal without a rear seat would be the ones that came from the factory that way, or clones of them, ie Cobra R's and newer Cobra Jets. Send an email to Mike Baker with IHRA to confirm:
mbaker@ihra.com

Please post back what he says, I'm curious to know for certain,

I know you have to have rear seat, because I was told to put it back in years ago, when my car was nit-picked for about 2 year period, was only thing that had to be changed.

I have D,E and F records 1/8 mile D never has been put in Drag Review took over a year to get my certificate.F is only class I can get close to weight 3160 usually 3180-3200 when set D record was around 500 lbs heavy.IHRA doesn't have maximum weight rule if your car is natural D may want to drop to E so can get get closer to weight.

I have 05 3v heads,block,crank if same as 08? I would sell.
BTW when my car was being nit-picked it was someone complaining and IHRA had to check,it wasn't IHRA picking on me,they were just doing their job,I have always been treated well and fair by IHRA tech.
