After running this class for the first time at Gainsville and subsequently reading the comments in the other thread-here are a couple of ideas that may possibly work going forward?
1. For the remaining 3 races of 2015 where the Shootout cars are involved with no AHFS, consider lowering the index in FS/X from 10.15 to something like 9.90, and in FS/XX from 9.90 to something like 9.65. This should enable the traditional stock classes a better shot a the top half of the qualifying sheet as far as the Shootout cars are concerned- but unfortunately won't stop the other FS classes from dominating qualifying until either the AHFS catches up with them, and or NHRA assigns them correct indexes. Unfortunately this process will take time-much like it did when this happened in the F/I classes of years past. 2. For 2016 find a title sponsor for the 4 Shootout races removing these cars from Stock Eliminator and run them in their own eliminator(s). In other words 2 individual eliminators with "no king of the hill handicap final" between the winner of FS/X and FS/XX. With all of the new cars being built for these two classes a 16 car qualified field in FS/X and FS/XX should be no problem to achieve. Because these cars take so little time to run (as well as gathering better fan reaction and feedback) consider qualifying them on Friday and running final eliminations on Saturday afternoon before, between, and following the Pro Qualifying Sessions using a 5 tenths pro tree?
