It's not legal.
The air cleaner rule you have to follow is the same as for Super Stock class. AIR CLEANERS Optional. If used, air cleaner must be OEM automotive or retain OEM configuration. Air-cleaner base may be cut or trimmed, but welding, bolting, riveting, epoxying, or any other form of fabrication prohibited. Ram tubes, velocity stacks, or other than stock-type base plates or ducting prohibited. Cooling holes prohibited in radiator side panels, etc. Factory air cleaners and/or scoops that fit through hood must be affixed to carburetor as per OEM only. |

Larry,
Not sure exactly what you are wanting but if you need an air cleaner base, then check out Speedway Motors' #91011062-2. At only $14.99 you can't go wrong. This is what I used to recommend to my carb customers when they asked about air cleaner bases. They also offer it with a top if you want to run a filter, #91011000. It comes with your choice if spacer 1/2, 1, or 2 inch and a stud. Hope this helps. Regards, Danny |

Danny Ashley,
Thanks, I still remember the very good Q-jet you did for me about 8 - 9 years ago. That carb worked great on our 350/255 F/SA Nova. And about the air pan base, simply looking at something to potentially smooth out air flow. I will check your suggested links. The combination I have now is SS 327/300/293 with Quick Fuel SS585 replacement carb.
