Default Experience with Whole Brain Radiation

I know this is not the place for this, but maybe it is.
My driver is broken and I am looking for someone with experience.
BJ's cancer has spread to the brain and oncologist is suggesting WBR.
Does anyone have direct experience with this? With the diversity on this forum I am hoping someone knows someone that has gone through this. She wants to go back to Indy next year and stir the pot a bit. Any help would be apreciated.

I am so very sorry to hear this. I had such a great chat with BJ in Sonoma, such a delightful woman.

You are in Arizona area, correct? I have a friend with cancer, she transferred to Cancer Centers of America down there. The care has been awesome and they have really educated her along the way. They might be a source for questions/opinions? I'm sorry I don't have more to offer than that and my prayers.

Hi Mike, I'm a little busy at the moment but I have time to tell you a little about my Granddaddy. He had what is known as Mercal Cell Carcinoma, started about 7 years ago. He went through all the various surgeries to remove as much tissue as they could then he had WBR. That 7 years ago at age 81 and he is still doing pretty good. When this storm is over I can find out more information for you if needed. Good luck and my prayers are with you.

After my Prostate surgery, my cancer guy referred me to his radiation specialist for followup treatment. He was a fountain of information and through the procedures all he described proved to be accurate. It's isn't brain cancer, but my radio therapist handled stuff like BJ's, too. My suggestion is to ask your oncologist for a referral to a radiation specialist and see what that person has to say.

As a survivor I won't pull punches. It's a long journey. My treatments were around 3 consecutive months of 15 min treatments 5 days per week. There were people in the waiting room with head scarfs, so I assume they were being treated for brain cancers. It was all walk-in.

I can't speak to brain cancers, but the treatment progression for Prostate cancer is surgery / radiation / hormone therapy.

Good luck on the Return Road.

No direct experience, but throughout my travels, I've heard a number of endorsements for Cancer Treatment Centers of America. Revolutionary discoveries almost never occur in traditional environments, so working with people who are outside of mainstream medicine might be the answer. God Bless you and best possible wishes for a full recovery.

Thanks for the response. After talking to several people that have actually gone through this she has decided to go ahead with the treatment. Racers are truly an extended family.
If you need any information on anything they probably know someone that has experience.
