Evans Coolant

Has anyone tried this coolant in their car?

I used it for several years when I had a set of heads that would leak when coolant pressure got over 10 -12 PSI .
Evans coolant allows the use of zero pressure in the system so I got by for a year or so till I replaced the heads .
I also used it in my Stocker ,where I found it really helped the consistency and a little quicker ET even though the coolant temp was higher .
Your coolant temp will be higher due to the coolant having a better heat absorption than straight water, meaning the actual temperature of the cylinder and head are lower because the coolant is absorbing the heat.
The coolant is defiantly not for everyone ,but it does have it's uses. especially for racers who have to store their cars in cold areas and it does not damage aluminum heads or radiators .
It's also a little pricey , but it can be reused over and over . .. there is very little degradation.

I noticed you are in DIV 5 , it might have some benefit over straight water at the higher altitude tracks due to its much higher boiling point.

No "coolant" cools, they all raise operating temp, holds heat and requires a longer time period to get that temp down to pre race temp. If that's attractive to you, go for it.

The Evans stuff needs a high flow system to work properly. While it will absorb the heat better than water, if your system cannot quickly move the Evans, the car will run warmer rendering the coolant useless at this point.

If you're running any OEM components (pump, radiator, etc.), the Evans is probably not for you. In an application where you have a big electric water pump, small aluminum rad with large rows, etc., you may find a use for the Evans. That being said, in a high flow cooling system, with good components, you shouldn't even see the boiling point of water unless you're heat soaking the engine. Personally, I wouldn't consider it for my vehicles unless I lived in a cold environment.

I put it in my car two or so weeks ago, due to the fact that water will freeze here in NJ and I will be going down to Florida for the Gators, Ill post back in a couple of weeks if I see any differences.

Thanks for the info. Once car gets hot have a hard time getting the car to cool down after a run in short amount of time. It gains temp quick after making the first hit of the day.

straight water is your friend. What temp are you staging at and what do you have for a cooling system?

The condition you're describing can usually be attested to an inadequate radiator, and/or fan set-up. I'm leaning more towards the radiator.
