Racers,
the solenoid I have now is equipped with two, very small gauge wires [about 20 gauge] Although It has performed perfectly to this date, I suspect fatigue will eventually break one of the wires. [I ?think? it is a TCI solenoid] What is available that is a direct replacement mechanically but has larger gauge wires? In addition, a one-wire solenoid will be fine if it is a more heavy-duty design. Thanks Larry Woodfin |

In order to have more confidence in the connections and to make plugging/unplugging less fragile I soldered about twelve inches of 14 gauge leads onto the 20 gauge solenoid wires. An insulated clamp bolted at the speedometer hole now steadies both wires and serves as the ground. In addition, a male/female disconnect at the power wire completes the upgrade.
I feel much better now! [Grin] Larry Woodfin |
