How about.....
1-10 bonus points for qualifying 1-10. 5 bonus points for setting a national record once a year at a points meet. 5 bonus points for a class win. Tear downs for all records and at least one random tear down for the rest. |

I agree, there should be teardown for any records as well. As for the random. Even checking something each race, teardown light like carbs and throttle body or cam lift or whatever. Change it up, but check something would be good. Someone mentioned sponsors for teardown. I bet if NHRA had a teardown go fund me for each race, enough people would contribute to make it happen....

They do. I just don't see many people setting records at points meets. My thought was to give racers a reason to set a record. My whole thought process revolves around making class racing relevant again. I don't think that it would help our cause to have a bunch of tear downs. Just enough to keep things honest. I don't see the need to tear down the same racer repeatedly either.

They DO tear you down when you set a National Record.
It just seems like it is not worth the trouble anymore! It has been 10 years since we set any = Our cars have not slowed down. However, my boys are not interested at all in them! It was a bigger deal when I was their age.

Setting the record still matters to some. I have a few, still not done.

I looked up the Stock/Superstock Records = Over 1/2 or at Minimum for
a long time on many. A lot of the rest were from 2017. I thought when we set them ( not since 2010 or 2012 ) they only lasted two years..

I personally would like to see more of a performance emphasis in stock and super stock. However if the index's are not addressed why would you set record and penalize yourself for 5 points? |

Not the same recognition for record holders as when they were published in the Natl dragster weekly for all to see. Respect with a capital R for those names that emblazoned that record page. Sadly now hidden in obscurity. Would love to see any of the above mentioned ideas to prevent Stock and SS from becoming just a bracket race.
