and allegedly, the requirement for cars running 7.50 - 9.99 to have one has been dropped. Anyone else heard, or know if this if factual ??

I sure hope so. I would think it will cause excessive engine heat and build heat very quickly. Not good in the Southwest.
Where did you read this? |

we (Super Stock) have another year until we have to have them. I will wait to the very last minute until I get one. I learned my lesson with the muffler farce. BTW would anyone be interested in a high quality pair of mufflers from Dawson. Never been used.

If they do mandate diapers in the Stock/SS classes it is just another example how NHRA is displaying their lack of knowlege when it comes to our classes. How would we be able to adjust oil levels during a weekend. Testing would be an absolute nightmare. I know DRE is a sponsor of this site but I am tired of hearing them push for something that would be so bad for out classes.

I'm sure it can be done...and I'm also sure that there are more complicatied applications of a diaper than mine....but it will be exciting to see a diaper on a stock front end of a Pontiac Firebird like my '72.
I have a concern for myself and the person in the lane next to me should a problem should come up but I also have a concern that the diaper will retain heat and cause premature failures and even a fire should the engine let go. Recing in the Southwest in the summer can be cruel to everyone and everything. |

between my header and oil filter 1/2 inch of clearence, on the front of motor 1/4 inch between the crossmember and oil pan the drag link runs right underneath the front of the pan and is so tight if i put a grease zerk in the tie rod end it hits the pan. now how in the H----- am i supposed to put a diaper on that
and by the way its a 72 gto with 20k original miles cutting the crossmember is out of the question

Patric just for the record we have never pushed diapers to NHRA and also we are sportsman racers. We are the ones that pushed to get the SFI 7.2 rules wipped out.We are trying to help guys with questions and we are one of the only companies doing custom sportsman diapers. Jeff we just built a diaper for a similar application.I have told guys before I am here to help with this rule problem Patric if you would give me a call I would like to talk to you thanks 217-454-5289
