1964 Plymouth B stock

OK just asking advice. I raced Nostalgia super stock for a long time and just sold my car. Kind of always wanted to try the real deal. I found a 65 plymouth maxwedge car that was raced in the 90's as a B stock automatic. It has been sitting for a while but is basically ready to run. Would need to pull apart and check it out of course. It is a 415hp version as it does not have a hood scoop, intake and carbs are correct, and as much as I know about it does appear to be a legal car. How stiff is B stock, and would a car that vintage still be competitive with out mega money?

Jump on in the waters fine and full of sharks but it’s great fun.

I live in Missouri, so I could race either in division 3 or 5

The first race we had in division 2 had 7 or 8 b/sa cars I believe. Some were pretty fast. I can't remember how many were at the second race, but I think a few less.

There wasn’t a MaxWedge car in 65. 62-64 only. I believe there was a 426 Street Wedge available. Your title says 64, the main body text says 65.

Just wanted to say that I remember the old "Rebel Rouser" in N/SS. May have lined up against you a few times...

John Dinkel used to run both Stock and N/SS with his '64 Plymouth. His was definitely not the fastest or highest dollar car, but I think he did OK. John Shaul or Steve Wann are competitors, but also very helpful.

Another option for a class that isn't filled with Camaros and newer cars is that you could make it a Street Wedge and run closer to H/SA, I/SA, or K/SA.

The 426 street wedge and 383 are both great combinations and wont be hard on parts.

Hey Paul, doesn't the 426 Street wedge use the 1.60" exhaust valve and only get .430" lift? I looked at this combo.for 1965, but the car was heavy (3750?) so I dismissed it as being too hard to make hp with the cam lift, heads and poor intake manifold and AFB carb.

If you have any experience with this combo I'd love to hear more about it. My original thought was it would be inexpensive and durable as it would surely be a low rpm motor and would last much longer then something being spun at high rpms. My fear was making enough stream to be viable.
