I have been to both. What exactly are you trying to compare?
Payout? Entry Fee? Schedule? Track Conditions? Crowd? Tech? Car Count? |

Mostly overall experience and just anything as I said I havent been to an IHRA event since 06 and havent followed it much since then and none after they went circus and now it sounds like things will get turned around as I miss IHRA more than anything else in drag racing.

I would not look for the overall experience to be affected significantlly by the addition of the Pro racing. If anything,it may actually decline as they focus on the Pros like NHRA does. |

It was never like that back then as from the way I remember it everybody was treated equal but things could have changed? How has the format been for sportsman racing the last few years?

IHRA no longer has true national events. Some ProAm divisionals have been incorporated into their national events with enhanced contingencies and running the finals with the Pros in front of spectators. They're still divisional points races, but fun, and it's nice to run most of the program earlier in the day without being at the mercy of Pro show schedule and oil-downs. No word if the Sportsman portion will be changed in any way.
Go to http://www.ihra.com/ and click on "PROGRAMS" for a list and more details. |

Having attended many NHRA and several IHRA events the size (more Pros, more Sportsman, more days) is the big difference.
As a Sportsman racer (then Comp - now Stock) I don't ever recall being treated unfairly. Tech inspection was the same after setting a Record. I also don't recall any Politics in either (maybe us little fish are ignored?) Location is limited in IHRA -Nothing in Northeast since NED went NHRA- and many racers have only one choice. |
