battery mounting,kill switch Q?

right at the moment this rambler is a bracket car but I don't want to make it stocker-illegal.

#1 does the trunk battery have to be in a box or can it be bolted to the trunk floor?

#2 I'm running a delco internal reg alt, big red wire gets jumped to one of the regulator connector and off the charge post to which side of the battery cutoff switch?
I'm thinking the battery side of the switch....

The battery has to be secured by something other than a cloth strap or factory style J hooks. It can be bolted down in a box or bolted to the floor by metal straps. Most use mounting kits consisting of a plate with threaded rods that hold a top plate over the battery. Think Jegs, Summit or Budget Fabrication aka DYI.

The battery cut-off should interrupt the main power circuit to the car so that throwing it kills the engine and all accessories especially the fuel pump.

Battery positive connects to one pole and the line to the car connects to the other. Most of them can be rotated so that they can be mounted upside down if needed. It's just a gate switch and does not really have a battery side that matters. Just wire it so that Push is Off.

The charge wire from that alternator is not connected to the kill switch. This caused me a problem with the alternator draining the battery with the car off so I put a breaker switch in the alternator line in the cabin. It lets me shut off the feed from the alternator when the car is off. I wired my volt meter directly to this breaker. With the car running and the alternator set to charge the gauge tells me battery power. If I throw the switch and break the charge circuit it tells me the alternator output.

I don't think he meant it that way. I think he's asking, Does the alternator connect to the same side of the switch as the battery, or to the opposite side of the switch?

I'm thinking the same side as the battery, that way when the switch is off there's no chance that the alternator will continue to power the engine and fuel pump. But I don't know for sure, it's been a very long time since I've run a car with a trunk-mounted battery.

That would be correct. I tried connecting my alternator to both sides if the switch to solve my battery drain problem and connecting it to the car side produced run-on. I saw no difference between connecting the alternator to the battery side of the switch and the battery positive itself, so I went with the battery pole because there's more room up there and I'm not sure Tech wants anything but the battery connected to that switch.

If an alternator shuts itself off correctly, it can be connected to the battery side of the shut-off switch. Mine won't.

Keep it simple, safe, and NHRA legal, get a double pole disconnect.

Which one of the small post do you connect the alternator
charging wire on the 4 post switch?

The one in the link below is similar and has an instruction link. The battery positive jumps to one of the smaller terminals and the alternator connects to the other.

If wanting to make Stocker legal battery has to be in stock location. You can run a second battery in trunk but they have to be seriesed together.

Series yields 24 volts, I think you mean parallel, positive to positive, negative to negative.

There are stockers running a series set-up using 6 volt batteries.
