Trailer jack recommendations.............
I will purchase an electric trailer jack soon. 24 foot enclosed.......probably weighs the same as everybody's. Scooter, cabinets, tool box and 3000 pound car inside.
What brand ? Price range? Quality? Warranty? Any brand to stay away from? Where to buy it? Thanks all. |

Re: Trailer jack recommendations.............
You can spend a lot, or a little...... All depends on how long you want them to last...
I started out with a cheap 3500 lb unit off e-bay ( it is new, and I payed about 130.00). I will see how long it lasts and make my next purchase, decision based on this info....... |

Re: Trailer jack recommendations.............
I have all the stuff in my trailer as you (probably more). I finally bought an electric jack after going through several of the manual type. I bought one from a mom and pop trailer company out West on Ebay. I paid about $150 for one that I saw for up to $280 for the same exact one in other places. It is the black 3500# one with two built in lights on it. It plugs in to your 7 pin trailer hitch or you can wire it to your onboard trailer battery that powers your winch. Had it for over 6 months and no problems. Sorry I don't know the brand. Do your homework though, you can pay a lot or a little for the exact same unit! Jim

Re: Trailer jack recommendations.............
I am adding an electric jack to my open trailer (has a five foot tall box)
and if the car is loaded I have trouble cranking with the hand crank (bad back) the jack costs $210 and is wired into the 7 pin plug and has a light. I don't know the name yet other than that the shop owner said he did not use Atwood jacks anymore. I will know the name when I pick up the trailer next Monday or Tuesday.

Sounds like the same one I got....... One thing that I took into consideration when purchasing a jack is some have a head (motor) so big you can't lower the tail gate on the truck. The style jack I got the tail gate just clears.... Last edited by rallye bob; 02-27-2011 at 07:16 AM. |

Re: Trailer jack recommendations.............
Have had good luck with Atwood Tongue Jacks!
It's strong, attractive, has a conveniently mounted light, easy to install, has an optional hand crank in the event of a battery failure (if for some reason you forget the light on & kill the battery) Wired it to a 12-volt battery on the trailer that our winch is also wired to, so we can connect & disconnect without plugging into the truck, however when the trailer is in use and plugged in, we use the12 volt source on the 7 pin plug to charge the battery while towing! (always considered this as having a "spare" charged group 24 battery available in case of an emergency) Take a look around the pit area at trailers to see what manufacturers are installing on trailers? ATC uses Atwood? |

Re: Trailer jack recommendations.............
I have been thinking about an electric jack for my 24' ATC. I was considering an Atwood. What's wrong with them?
