Looks like the car has a Four speed hump cover and boot flange. I would think that it is a automatic trans behind that crime scene though. A flywheel/clutch explosion would be more severe.

Re: Stein's Black 63 found
Bob, I just learned that car is only about 10 miles from me !
I was looking for a D date code trans for a '63 Max Wedge restoration ,when a friend told me about it. There are more real Max Wedge cars per square mile around here than most people can believe, I know of at least 7 in a 10 mile radius from me!

Re: Stein's Black 63 found
Correct me if I'm wrong.
I think I remember seeing a red Teachers Pet car at the ETown divisional some 6 or 7 years ago maybe it was. Watching Stock Qualifying that Friday morning was a drag racing highlite for me. So many cars seemed to be a lil dusty and are probably only out once or twice a year. Stock and Super Stock qualifying just kept going and going, sooo many cars. best Friday morning I've ever had. Stood under the tower w sunglasses to keep from losing an eye from the burnout box rocks a kicking. those engines were singing some great songs that a.m. |

Re: Stein's Black 63 found
Stein replaced the black 63 some years later with a red one, the 64 was always red.
The lady claming to have Steins car is miss informed, it was not dammaged in a towing acident, it was hit in the pits at a points meet at E-town and repaired. It was sold to Wes Coleman of Paterson, NJ then to Ben Lawson, Ben sold it to the Now Owner in PA with the Alum. still on the car. Her car has red interior witch is not correct either.
