Now it all makes since. They're looking at combining ALL sports compacts into NHRA type classes. That's why they just changed the rules about Class winners. Bikini contest won't be far behind.
Sports compact racing was costing them money. Never could get a full field and spectators were too busy watching other stuff. Last edited by Terry Cain; 07-16-2008 at 08:32 PM. Reason: ???? |

What the HELL! What's the; index, weight breaks, and what cars, exactly, does this apply to? That explanation is a little vague. Wait 'till Bucky spots a front drive( and it states ALL MOTOR) Nissan. The bikini contest winner will get more than the Superstock winner, and she didn't pay an entry fee. What a joke.

Another class opening up at events to attract more entry payers. Helps fill the pits at Divisionals and pay the purses. The seven guys running Nationally last year will each have a divisional race to run. Some new sponsors will have a place to guarntee prize money which can add to the NHRA prize purses. Good business for NHRA ? maybe. Good for Class racing or Sportsman racing in general. NO. Divides the number of people who want to race into smaller and smaller numbers of people per class. More Bracket racing....

Dick,
Smaller classes? Like the class of broken CV joints? I'll be glad to run one any round... Esp the final.. Chances are they would break before the final. They are about the only thing that breaks more than mine.

I highly doubt this will happen as a index class. After looking into stock/super stock class rules for lets say a mid 90's neons and transfer them to a honda civic would require tons of information be to attained by NHRA, engine specs, cam size, pistons, combustion chamber cc, and weight for all of the variations of sport compacts would be immense amount of data to be gathered. Let alone the approved pistons, header, head castings codes would then have to be added to the above listed information.
Along with the basic class rules the electronics would have to be address also, most sport compact run electronic such as in car widebands, dataloggers, 2 steps, programmable ecu's. I looked into what I would need to run my car and there was pages of guidelines for dodge neon chassis so all of those specific rules, part numbers, approved lists would near to be compiled for just my 1991 CRX alone. I am realist and I doubt it will happen. If the class is just a open bracket I could see it working but from the structure I have seen that isn't going to go over well. I would love to go race in that series but get my car which is very simple to fit current rule would take a full overhaul and would require a set of rules to be released by NHRA in the near future. |
