I have just learned that the final arrangements have been made for a match race at Roxboro Dragway, Thursday, October 16, between an original Sox & Martin Duster and the Motown Missle. These two cars have already made appearances at a couple of tracks recently. Go to Roxboro Dragway web site for racing line-up and time. I think there is also a chance that the Grumpy's Toy Monza might also make an appearance.
This is match racing the way a lot of us remember it at Roxboro. |

That would be cool to see. I rember the original guys match racing out here mid week in the '60s and '70s. Funny Cars, Top Fuelers and Pro Stockers.

Should be a good night for racing at Roxboro on Thursday Night. Air temperature at around 65 degrees and a humidity of 55% according to the Weather service for 6:00 pm.

Those are both powerglide cars. Nothing nostalgic about that.
Would be worth watching if they were still stick cars though. |

Thanks for the pics Chris. It would still be worth watching so far as I'm concerned...I grew up watching match races w/ these guys along w/ Dyno Don, Grumpy, Billy the Kid Stepp at Roxboro and it brings back a lot of great memories!

I stand corrected. Nothing nostalgic about an automatic pro stocker. The only reason for their popularity- they were the ultimate in stick shift drag racing.
