Look at this now
NHRA lets air out of M/T, Hoosier Pro Stock tire program While perusing the NHRA’s latest rules and regulation changes for 2009 over the holidays the Agent noticed that effective in 2009 NHRA Pro Stockers will be restricted to Goodyear tires only. This effectively kills the very expensive R&D programs that both Mickey Thompson and Hoosier tires had to develop a Pro Stock tire. In the past Warren Johnson had worked with Hoosier and both Billy Glidden and Max Naylor with Mickey Thompson. A spokesman at M/T told DRO Editor Jeff Burk that his company had absolutely no notice from or communication with the NHRA about this action prior to reading a statement on the NHRA web site. “They didn’t call or anything else,’ said Ken Warner of Mickey Thompson Tires. “We spent a fortune on that program in 2008 and had budgeted money for a 2009 program. We were completely blindsided by NHRA’s actions.” Reportedly the Hoosier Tire folks also received no warning from the NHRA. This is just one more example of the arrogance and ignorance the NHRA management continually shows in dealing with their customers (and partners?). [1/9/2009] And This Too!!!! Compton says no to lower ticket prices!!! Although the entire country is in a recession and other major sports including NASCAR have lowered their prices to accommodate their fans, NHRA President Tom Compton says that there won’t be any cut in ticket prices for NHRA drag fans in 2009.

Wally Parks must be turning over in his grave....shame on them for the lack of respect to companies who support our sport.

You know Rick at the D3 Banquet, the rep from NHRA was speaking and said in these tough times you have to attend as many races as you can.
Keep up the support of NHRA and we will get through this.... WHERE IS OUR SUPPORT FROM NHRA???????? ![]()

I wouldn't be surprised to see extra charges for preferred pitting, etc., or pits for large rigs with multiple cars.
What would you guys think about putting something together and giving it to NHRA thru the Sportsman Council with some positive suggestions for things they could do to soften the blow for sportsman racers? We have the forum, we should use it.
