Default Where have all the contingencies gone??? WOW!!!

Getting my car ready for the Natonal Open at Las Vegas next weekend. Mechanically, it is in the box and ready to go. Taking care of last minute details, I decided to check the NHRA Contingency postings for stickers to add or remove. Looks like the paint on the sides of the old Sebring will be seeing daylight for the first time. These are just the ones coming off: Bendix, Barry Grant, Mickey Thompson, Edelbrock, Mopar, Earls, MSD and Richmond. I race for fun and the occasional success. I spend far more than I win. The ones that I truly feel sorry for are the guys that depended on the sponsers for their livelyhood, The Lang boys, Fletch, Mark Faul, etc. Just an observation.

Last week Mopar was still on the list,no more.I'm down to 10 each for national and divisional.I'm afraid to take anymore old decals off.I have a few areas where the paint came off with the decal already.

It must be my browser, I see the list of companies, but not what they are paying. Is it me?

Some of us would just as soon keep all the decals on their car. It would be like a nostalga kind of thing. You know, decals from companies that do not pay anymore or have gone under, or who have changed thier name. Federal Mogul, CSI, Winston, Excide, Direct Connection, Moon, STP, Plymouth, etc.
Besides, if I took all the decals off, what would hold the car together.

U/SA for the times they are a changing.

Just a quick follow-up. Yesterday, Edelbrock, Richmond and MSD were added to the NHRA Contingency List. Glad to see them back. Looks like an ever-changing list. I noticed ARP is no longer listed.

Thumbs up Re: Where have all the contingencies gone??? WOW!!!

No matter what happens, the Mickey Thompson tires decal should stay if you use their tires. Ken, Mike and the rest at MT have done much to support the sportsman racers. They may have gotten sideways with NHRA but that doesn't change what they've done for us previously.

Red face Re: Where have all the contingencies gone??? WOW!!!

I got a flyer in the mail from Turbo Action. They now are going to a 10 year cutoff for shifters.I got mine in 1999.I cant blame him though. His reasoning is that due to the economy he cant afford to pay for shifters as far back as 1984.Good point.I love the shifter in my car and it's been trouble free.I'll go back to him if I ever need a new one.I appreciate the payouts and the shirts he's sent me over the years.

John is right, M/T has always been a straight up sponsor and has helped many racers without question. Sponsors such as M/T don't grow on trees! Unless nhra start making major changes they soon will go the way of many greed filled businesses of late. I will not hold my breath however, as the nhra boys club doesn't seem to deal with reality very well. I am sure M/T will continue to support the racers who support them. Turbo Action saw the handwriting on the wall several years ago, perhaps this direction is the way of the future. Jim
