I remember seeing this when it happened. I wasn't at this race but I saw this car at Commerce running in Comp. Elim.

Deffinately a cool look back at a great race. I also enjoyed the youtube link to the Pro Stock action at the 77' Gatornationals. The good ol' days.......................Danny Durham.

I was in the stands at that race. I think the Pro Stock guys were snickering at the "little" six. The snickering stopped when the green flag dropped and the Pros did not want to play with Buddy anymore. Don Jackson

I first met Buddy at the Spring Nationals, At Dallas Texas (Lewisville, actually, as suburb of Dallas). I can't remember the year.He and I both ran 1956 Chevy 210 series 2dr sedans with the 225 hp 2 X 4bl solid lifter Vette engine and those very breakable 3 speeds. Had a Trupi & Kling engine. He bought a set of carbs for that car from me later. Sonny Bryant (now the crankshaft wizard) had one also. I won class at that one, Sonny was runner up. That made me got even with Sonny for the previous Pomona.
Buddy has had some interesting cars over the years. Got to visit with him over dinner at the Baytown race a couple of years ago. Intersting guy. His little 4 cyl turbo Pinto drove a lot of guys nuts too, if I remember correctly.
