Default The Unmitigated Greed Continues

I thought I would add this little tid bit for all of you people who have permanent #s about to expire. I faxed in my form that was attached to an email from the powers to be at NHRA to pay the $25.00 to renew my #.
I recieved a call this evening from a nice lady in Glendora who informed me that the cost as of last Thursday had increased from $25.00 to $50.00. I kindly told her that NHRA was in the process of loosing a lot of people and that I was not interested in paying twice as much to continue racing with them. She asked if I would like her to shred the form? I told her please do. For all of my friends that I have had the pleasure to meet over the years, all I can say is it has been a pleasure. We all know that this day will come sooner or later, unfortunately mine came a little quicker than I might have expected.

Hey Bruce, I just renewd my comp # and membership under the old pricing. The only reason that I renewed was to get into the Cajun Sportsnationals at Belle Rose.

Bruce, I hope that the arrogance they displayed to you will bite them in the butt. I was told in a drivers meeting after the d2 banquet several years ago that we would show up just to race for the trophy, we were discussing purses at the time. I guess they have had this arrogant attitude all along and we are just now really paying attention to it. If you're close to an IHRA track try it, you'll be suprised how well it goes.

Mark,

I wish I was, because their national event entry fees are now $80.00 less than ours (sans the sports nats, but their still $20 bucks less than them). However, IHRA seems to be heading north & west (they already have Rocky Mountain Raceway, in SLC, Ut., and they appear to be building a new track to enjoy just north of Julesburg in Neb...so stay tuned on here, or catch up with the IHRA people....

In some defense of NHRA,they do have a lot more contingency sponsors,so I am not sure you can compare the entry fees.Their round money at National events is currently better too.

Good points Mark...the saying is true..."you get what you pay for"! However, if sportsman racers have to endure anymore races like this years Winternationals, that's not going to bode well for NHRA (the way they treated us sportsman racers there)...especially now that they're making us pay even more for our racing involvement, but our return on the investment isn't keeping pace with that---less contingency postings, and purse payout %, as opposed to the same for our classes just 10yrs ago! I remember winning around $500 bucks in contingency postings just for winning class back in '99, but this weekend I'm going to be running class for my coveted "Wally", and for just $100 bucks!!! I sure hope I can make it to the 3rd rnd (at least), of regular eliminations, to make a "FEW DOLLARS MORE", where's "Clint Eastwood", and the late great "Lee Van Cleef", when you need them!!!

There is a difference between greed and tough decisions during tough times.

As everyone knows this can be an expensive sport. $50 is really not that much in the scheme if things.

Even at today's fuel prices it is going to cost me more than that for the first tank in my truck on the way to the races.

If it is the "principal" anyone is certainly free to sit home and protest while most everyone else races.
