Default Cobra Jets.

I see there are three (3) 2008 Cobra Jets at Grand Bend, Kansas. I don't see any earth shaking ET's. I am really searching for the elusive 146 mph! I guess this is probably like seeing the elusive "Big Foot". Everyone has seen him but no one can verify it. The new Dodge at Indy and the Cobra Jets look like a good race.

U are wrong, twice..........4...and 'remember' AA/stock has a .20 faster index......SO, looks like 3 of them could be #1, #2, #3 if all were running in A/SA

"First U.S. Nationals"????

There was never a US Nationals at Great Bend. It was just the NHRA NATIONALS.

The first "U.S. Nationals" was at Indy.

How's that for hijacking a thread?????

I was feeling kind of ignorant for a while but now I'm feeling better about my lack of knowledge. I always thought of Kansas as the home of Conestoga wagon racing and corn eating contests. I want to thank the first two posters for widening my horizon. I am sure they were both witness to the elusive 146 MPH Cobra Jet passes and have surely seen Bigfoot. I see there are four Cobra Jets at Great, Great, Great Bend, not to confused with Grand Bend. I see they have A/SA and AA/SA covered from 9.70 to 10.30. Funny everyone is going to the automatic trans.Wright and Ronzello seem to be the only stick Cobra Jet out there playing. I still think it will be fun to watch how the Challengers and Cobra Jets develop. I guess they both want to kick the sh**t out of them GM cars from the sixties and seventies. I like the headline in the Wall Street Journal today " Pontiac IS Going To The Junkyard". I guess this makes them permanent collector cars. Ford had the Edsel but GM wins the crown with Saturn, Hummer, Oldsmobile and now Pontiac.

Roger Banks is on the Great Bend qualifying sheets in A/S (11.50 altitude adjusted index); so he is also running a stick in his new CJ. At the conclusion of qualifying, he is #21 with a 10.371 (1.129 under).

I was always under the opinion that the first U.S. Nationals were held at Detroit, care to make a wager?
