Herb -- Not only are you reading right with S/S only having 23 entries but Stock only has 24 -- when are "they" going to wake up ?

Question Re: Only 23 cars entered for Bristol in SS?

Normally Stock is listed as a 128 car field and payout starts 3rd Round.
I have never seen this few of cars in Stock at a National event. If there are fewer than 32 cars, then will the first round losers get round money?Second round losers?

Are you serious? Lucky if they pay the winner and r/u full payout.I got slammed earlier in the year when I said NHRA policies and the economy will impact car count. Now that the chickens are coming home to roost let's hear the reason for low counts from the apologists.

Jack if you're out there, before you criticise me for entering Englishtown, that and the Dutch are probably the only two races I'll go to this year,in part due to association policies.Normally I have an 8 grading.

No apologies Ed, the economy is causing most of the low car count. NHRA ship will sink if attendance drops or the Pro catogories get smaller. We really have little effect on National meets.

If only two cars show up,is the loser considered the Runner Up,or just a first round loser?

I'm asking if they'll get a full payout for W/RU.That's all.
Interesting question though. To keep a few bucks they probably would tell the poor r/u he was a first rd loser and they would pocket the cash.Would it really surprise you if that's what they did?

Yes Eddie I'm out here and and l feel your pain with the economy the way it is but as for the association policies go if you feel that strong about how you're being treated why give your money to them at any races ? This past Sunday at Dave Leys' East Coast Stock/Superstock event at Atco the winner probably got the same purse that the Dutch Classic pays -- and no NHRA "BS" as you say .BTW , they had as many cars Sunday as are entered in both Stock and S/S in Bristol .You have choices................some right in your own backyard ! !

Thinking back, I remember that at Atlanta and St. Louis, several of our Division 3 friends said they felt like they had to skip Bristol to run Norwalk for points. On top of that, fuel was absurd at that time. We are from just outside of Nashville, and the diesel bill for the weekend was still $650+. So fuel and conflicts hurt Bristol last year, and the economy and conflicts are hurting it even more this year.

I have no interest in racing against SS cars.I foot break they leave off a button.I go 95 mph some of them go 150 mph and higher.Stand next t o the turnpike roadway and have cars come past you at 65 mph and maybe you'll see why I feel the way I do about racing cars that fast. And finally they have full cages I dont even have a roll bar.
NHRA is only getting $$$ from me for one or two races this year.I am comfortable with that.If I quit my
car loss is less than $10K.What would yours be?So I guess your love affair for NHRA is a lot more $$$
loss orientated than mine.
