Not sure about your info about the US Nationals .Trailered stockers weren't allowed in'72.
Nor were slicks. If it's a Super Stocker, where is the class designation? Looks like a bracket car to me.

also-develpment date on right edge of pic says oct 72, dating the photograph to the period of stock without slicks/trailers, closer exam of tow car suggests a pennsylvania lic plate if that is any help

Don't know car looks like SS/? maybe J on window to me looks like SS car from that
time period to me.

Could be right on that,now that you mention it. SS/J would be right. Pro Shift decal on window.
The film could have gone undeveloped for a month too.Remember those days?
Now we need an Indy 72 program.
