Ummmm about 300 crisp 100 dollar bills and a motor that peaks at 8200 Just kidding, but not far off or else I'd put a 425 hp in my 66 Impala which is stick only. Talk about parts breaker!!!! But it would be FUN!!!! and that's what it is all about right?

But does a stick car have to be an RPM engine? Don't 428 cobra jets make good stick cars and they don't really fit that mold.

Chris I think my combination would be a great stick car. 71-72 Z28 Camaro. A motor that has pretty good torque but also likes to rpm.

Im about to find out. The LS1 is a great combo, over 500 ft lbs of torque and peak HP at 6700, should be fast.

Chris, I really don't think that being an rpm motor is a real requirement with all the gear ratios and the good clutch stuff that exists. However, there are some real fun sounding stuff out there that would be hard to keep in one piece. Some of the big heavy stuff like Daren mentioned and the big block old or Pontiac stuff. Cool, but heavy.

Stick shifts are fun. When it comes to rpm, I would say that the engines can be harder on valve train since they are free revved on the line. That isn't even a major problem if you have good stuff that is kept fresh. You aren't gonna be happy if you short cut the valve train or drive train on a stick car. Unless you like getting towed back to the pits. LOL.
