According to Maple Grove's website, diapers will be required in 2012. Indy's million dollar race also require and I have heard they require on all races in 2011.
Did I miss an announcement by NHRA or are the tracks taking it upon themselves (with some encouragement) to force the racers to make yet another investment? _________________________________ Andy Stone 1102 A/S 1112 SS/C |

Andy,it was only a matter of time. Now let's see if the diaper manufacturers are going to
stand behind their products if a sportsman car dumps oil out of the diaper on the track. I think they would be partially liable,as long as the fluid got past the diaper.A radiator, trans leak or hose leak outside of the diaper wouldn't be their responsibility. How about it Dennis? Still kinder and gentler.

Quite a few bracket tracks have been requiring , or offering incentives for ET racer to use diapers.
Not a big deal on a dragster or tube frame car, and I can personally attest to the fact that they work. ...Not a drop of oil or parts with a hole in the pan big enough for your fist to go thru.

I guess I'll slow my car down so it doesn't run quicker than 10.0 then!!! And won't be racing at Maple Grove!!

Makes me glad this is probably my last year. If not I'll damn sure run a class where they aren't required. Considered dropping a class this year to avoide flex plate shields. Is anybody really blowing up SFI flex plates? Seriously?

Bill, the way I read the rules, they apply to all cars. I can see the diaper rule for a National event because of time limits. Not the locals. Hell, now they want bracket racing at divisionals to kill some time.(and make some entry fee money)
After looking at both cars I have, there is no way a diaper will fit between the oil pan and crossmember on the stocker. I may change pans-which will not be legal-or cut the crossmember, which I will not do. The S/S car has a custom oil pan and custom headers made just for that car. If a few modifications can provide enough space for a diaper, I may use one. Otherwise I will patronize Pro Stick and some of the TriState and ECSSS series races, and IHRA. I'm am getting tired of NHRA dreaming up new ways for me to hand them money like insurance, entry fees, pit bike fees, oil down fees, threaten me with fines for environmental fees while the payouts won't cover the the expenses incured on the average weekend unless you win-provided you can collect any contingency money. The racer has to pay/assume all the risk while someone else reaps the benefit. You can only push so far.... ________________________________ Andy Stone 1102 A/S 1112 SS/C |

Dyno the diaper with the crosslink going through the pan will probably look and work like a diaper that has factory motor mounts as my 69 Camaro had.
As for those with ridiculous oil pan configs, just put the stock style one back on and the problem is solved. Who cares about the 20-30 hp you lose. What is a tenth when you're still being out run by 4 tenths from a cobra jet or challenger with a diaper. I don't wish this upon anyone, but some of you guys need to get the shiz knocked out of you when you crash up your 100K racecar from an oil down. secondly I'm not paying for your car either when I *** end your antique because I oiled down the track and slid into your lane. Think of the others next to you and not yourselves or how it's NOT going to fit. As A MGR, Director, VP or a person in charge might say to you. JUST GET IT DONE AND NO EXCUSES
