Comp Plus has an editorial praising NHRAs new board members. The editor talks mumbo jumbo about one of them and never tells you why they are the best thing since ice cream.Well they asked for feedback and you know me,I gave them my opinion.
It's only been a few months and the text of your article makes no mention why the new appointments are a plus to the organization.Us sportsman racers are still paying increased entry fees, licensing fees,1990 payouts,in the case of Stock and Super Stock dealing with bogus horse power factors on the new Mustangs and Chryslers.Granted the economy is still in the tank but the low car counts are partially to blame on the arrogance and neglectful attitude coming from Glendora to remedy these and other situations. The pros are suffering the same fate. It's sad when they have to drag retired and ridiculously under funded teams to fill fields for national events. So like the old lady in the commercial used to say "Where's the beef?"Give us examples of the reason for your enthusiastic feelings for the added salaries on the board.

Ed,
Look at the changes in Comp Plus.... At the top. Didn't I read there was a change and someone is now working for NHRA? With a change I wonder who now controls the content of Comp Plus?

Ed: I'm with you, but there is a saying, "Don't believe anything you read and only have of what you see." If they blow there own horn long enough, people start to go with the hown blowers.

Competition Plus is a mouthpiece for the NHRA management. There is no tough investigative press that ever looks at NHRA. In an era where bogus non profits cost the govt. $90 billion dollars a year you would think someone would do a little more investigative work.

Don't know much about the attorney who joined the board but Ken Clapp sure has plenty of experience with running racetracks etc and has walked the walk for certain ...........I thought the editor spoke plenty about his backround in the article.

a good thing.Good for who so far?Have you seen any change in any of their policies? I see that the fields are down all the national events so far.True it's partially due to the economy, but I think their enhancements and lack of rule enforcement has something to do with it.Look at the incedents with Kenny and Toby.Selective enforcement and lack of knowledge of the rule book.Jack,I would love to come on here and praise NHRA.They don't seem to give me a reason to do so.

There are no changes at the top of of competitionplus.com. I am still running the show. Unless, you are referring to the April Fools deal.
Voice for the NHRA? Not hardly. We report what we can prove and back up with FACTS, not what we or some think they know. Legally, morally and ethically -- that's the right thing to do. This column, was an editorial and the opinion of a well respected sports writer Michael Knight. If it has my name on it, it's my opinion. Just as you are entitled to your opinion Ed, so is Michael. Greg Hill wrote here is no tough investigative press that ever looks at NHRA. In an era where bogus non profits cost the govt. $90 billion dollars a year you would think someone would do a little more investigative work. Just so you know, we tried repeatedly to interview the person who inspired the letter to the IRS, and after talking to Jeff Wolf of the LVRJ, declined to talk to us ... either on the record of off, after repeated attempts. We interviewed the attorney and reported everything we could prove on the matter. http://www.competitionplus.com/drag-...hra-tax-status Casey Miles Ed: I'm with you, but there is a saying, "Don't believe anything you read and only have of what you see." If they blow there own horn long enough, people start to go with the hown blowers. When and wherever a situation arises, we report ALL sides of a story and contrary to what some of you believe, NHRA is NOT always wrong. Do they make stupid, ill-thought out moves? Absolutely. Do we call them out on it. Yes we do and will still continue to do so. Does the NHRA treat the sportsman racers right all of the time? Not hardly. But then again, if you put up with it and continue to support their business, who is to blame? You cry about the increased board salaries and increased fees, but yet you pay them. You can't be a victim if you're a volunteer. And to return to Ed, the whole article is basically why Michael feels this is a good idea. Bobby Bennett |

I have known Bobby a long time and he is a TRUE STOCK, SS, and MODIFIED fan. He grew up at Spartanburg Dragway watching the 4 speed modified cars of the 70's. Have you seen Project White Wagon?
I told Bobby at PRI that I thought his site was one of the only one that reports the truth and I still feel that way. He is NOT a mouthpiece for NHRA or anyone but hisself. Bobby keep up the good work, and yes you are right, if you keep playing the game how can it be the leagues fault, at some point you have to look in the mirror and blame yourself. Herb Jr |

Gotta go with Bobby on this one. Mouthpiece for NHRA? That's selective hearing at best. Guess nobody ever read a Jon Asher editorial... LOL
While I found this editorial to be more background info on some guy moreso than what he's actually doing, in all fairness the guy hasn't been there that long. Revisit him at the end of the year and find out what he actually does and it's effects on the organization at each level and perspective. I don't really see anything to get all up in arms about, in regards to the story. $.02,

Ed, I enjoyed reading your very honest message. I feel it's about time that all print media finally ask important questions about the running of NHRA. Mr Bennett I didn't read about any interviews you had with Mr Compton or Dallas Gardner either. I know you probably don't want to have your picture on a dart board as Jeff Burk has in his honor in Glendora. I want NHRA to survive and prosper but when the Emperor isn't wearing clothes, someone close to him has to let hin know. Claude Ruel
