there is a track in my area passing bad checks!
This track operator has chosen not to take my calls and doesn't return my voice messages in an effort to clear this matter up...so... this track has till tomorrow 6/30/2011 at 8:00pm to make this check good along with all the other expenses I have incurred, or I will go public on every racer chat forum I can think of. Heard about that from another racer. Luckily(?) I was a first round Duck there.
You'd figure race tracks would be trustworthy.... guess I'm naive. Got two different tracks with "check's in the mail" stories for invoices dating back to first week of May, and one race track that hasn't paid their bill in well over a YEAR... and then actually thought I was going to send them this year's decals, too! I'm about tired of it. A few bad apples are going to force a "pay in advance" policy for everyone here pretty soon.

Yeah Michael I hate it has come to this, but I have tried to get this settled for several weeks but had no success. If he doesn't clear this matter up by 6/30/2011 at 8:00pm I will ruin his name and his drag strip......this may not be the track you think it is.

For a bad check written below $250.00, it is a misdemeanor offense which is punishable by up to 6 months in jail, a $1,000 fine, plus additional fees for each NSF check. For checks that were issued over $250.00, they are prosecuted as a category D felony offense, which is punishable by up to 4 years in prison, up to $5,000.00 in fines and additional fees per each NSF check in addition to other fines and restitution. Times are hard and it could be a simple problem such as he's spent more than he made and doesn't know how to deal with it. Before ruining someone's life work, you should make sure that it's not a hardship case, which you would end up causing untold problem. Meet him face to face and ask why, if tells you to go fudge yourself than I would drop off the cheque at his local police department and have charge brought up against him or her whichever is the case. Remember it's not worth wrecking someone's life work because he's having finacial problems, we need tracks not empty fields. As for not answering your messages he might be dealing with something more important than your cheque. If the gentleman is a habitual liar than let the law deal with him, I'm sure after a visit from the police he'll be calling you right away. Good luck. CR
