What is the wt break for I, J, & K / SA..?
Just figuring what class my Nova would run in . I am actually trying for K/SA 283/ 220/223 should be the NHRA spec. Car weighs 3060 in IHRA trim for L/SA (with less hp in IHRA ) Does it matter what size battery is up front if you have one in trunk ? If i don't have to change a whole lot we may try to take it to Charlotte. Thanks

I dont have my rule book handy but with simple math I recall J being a 12.5 class and K being a 13.00 class and if I guessed correct that your car is a 66 it will be a natural J or I car depending on the body config. so you could go H,I,J or K. The primary starting battery in Nhra is the front battery and I believe if the car has one in the back they have to be the same size.
p.s. Early morning I just remembered I need to download the rulebook here at work....I sure miss the 'free' printed copy

Weight breaks is a convienent link provided here on the forum...
http://classracer.com/classes.html Per the rulebook the second battery must be the same "type, size and weight" as the primary battery in the engine compartment. That's got to be the most 'under-enforced' rule in the book, mainly because common sense prevails on the part of most tech officials.

K/SA would be the best index @ 12.65. You can't run roller rockers but you can run the deep Chevy II oil pan 6-7 qt. It's on the approved list. I'm surprised every chevy stocker doesn't have one LOL. I'm looking @ a 66 2dr sedan online - I like the idea of a smaller car but for now I'll keep on with the Impala - probably in Stock either the 327 or 283 can't decide I have both. 283 probably index better but the 327 overall faster ride.

Take the NHRA rating for HP which you think is 223x11.5+170 for H= 2735.. 223x12+170 for I= 2845..223x12.5+170 for J= 2960..223x13+170 for K=3070..
As long as you natural is J like Dion was guessing you could run K by adding 10#s Brad |

Mine is a 4-door and in specs for NHRA it is a natural 12.55 or 12.51.
I guess my question was what the wt breaks were. From what i am finding now it will be a natural J car
